Season 4
The Budhan team will collaborate with indigenous artists and filmmakers from India's DeNotified Tribal communities, historically labeled as 'criminal by birth' during colonialism and marginalized in knowledge production and citizenship. The project extends a filmmaking methodology initially developed to document indigenous experiences during the global pandemic to diverse borderland regions facing ecological disruptions. These regions are grappling with rising sea levels, altered rainfall patterns, increased heat, and desertification, challenging traditional ways of life.
The project comprises three components: training, promotion, and research. It offers technical training in filmmaking tailored to communities with limited literacy and digital skills, combining research methods with collective reflection to empower communities in developing research projects. It promotes indigenous filmmaking culture and seeks to transform research practices, engage in multimodal knowledge production, and nurture a thriving community of praxis.
